HISTORY: Prior to annexation to the City of Sacramento in 1965, the 680± acre Campus Commons property was known for its hop production by the Horst and Haas ranches. Site development began in 1966 led by a local Sacramento partnership. Moss & Moss built homes in Villages 1, 2, and 4 (portion). A joint venture of Robert C. Powell Properties & A. Teichert & Son built Villages 3, 10, 4 (portion), and all the homes in Nepenthe HOA. Kimmel Construction built the homes in Village 5 (St. Charles Place). Home construction was completed in 1979.
Robert C. Powell: Mr. Powell was recognized in Sacramento Magazine's Silver Anniversary Issue as one of Sacramento's 25 Most Influential People. Mr. Powell was widely known as a community leader, visionary, and one of Sacramento's most generous philanthropists.
